Lifestyle of Australians: Those living in Australia are the definition of “beach bums,” and how could they not? With warm weather year round, residents have access and are comfortable at the beach everyday. Along with easily accessible warm waters whenever they want, citizens have access to fresh, in season, tropical fruit and delectable seafood. Queensland residents are also the sporty type. Most are up at six AM walking, running or enjoying a dip in the ocean. Life is pretty chill in Queensland, Australia, but there are some laws different than the United States. One for example is your car cannot be unlocked because it invites criminal activity. In addition, Queenslanders are made fun of by the rest of Australia. They call them “banana benders.”
Reason region is beautiful: Queensland, Australia is known for its beauty from land to sea. Residents and tourists have the best of both world having the ability to explore the Outback and the Daintree Rainforest further inland and walking the coast, surfing the best waves, and touring the Great Barrier Reef submerged in the bluest waters. To make the experience even better, the sunsets are breathtaking. Overall, the whole region of Queensland is magical.

Challenges the region is facing: Along with the region and country’s significant predicament pertaining to the Great Barrier Reef, there are other environmental issues occurring (most likely assisting in the reefs destructions). They are awful at water management due to old irrigation and over extraction, they admit that they should be moving towards renewable energy and lessen their reliance on fossil fuels. Fiona Wain, CEO of Environment Business Australia, said “We have these resources on tap, but we’ve become lazy thinkers.” In addition to the water and energy issues, the country is concerned for their biodiversity levels. Currently 1500 different species are at risk of extinction due to environmental challenges. Overall, the environmental challenges the country faces seem to come full circle and connect to each other in some way.
